Graveside services for Harold W. Kallenberger Sr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Tulsa, OK.
Mr. Kallenberger, a 92-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 6:04 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Wright Memorial Hospital of Trenton.
Mr. Kallenberger was born on Nov. 5, 1914 in Bartlett, KS, the third of nine children born to Ira Clark and Lucy May Kallenberg-er. He was married in Sedan, KS on Aug. 14, 1937 to Adelaide E. Staats, who preceded him in death.
He spent his formal years in Coffeyville, KS and began first grade at the age of four years, completing the first eight years of school. He attended the United Brethren Sunday School with three years of perfect attendance, beginning in 1919. He served honorably in the Kansas National Guard, Troop B, 114th Calvary from March 17, 1931 through June 10, 1935. He was awarded a commendation for horsemanship and placed second in horse jumping at Fort Riley, KS. During this period, he was temporarily assigned duty in Coffeyville, when it was reported that Pretty Boy Floyd was in the area. The guradsmen had rifles, however, they were not issued ammunition.
Mr. Kallenberger worked on the construction of the bomber plant in Tulsa, OK in 1941. With the entry of the U.S. into World War II, he moved his family by train to Bremerton, WA, to work in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, repairing war-damaged naval vessels until the conclusion of the war in 1945.
He was a 25-year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, a 32nd Degree Mason and owned an air conditioning and sheet metal business in Bartlesville, OK. He served as an usher at the Bartlesville First Presbyterian Church. He was baptized on Jan. 19, 1947 with his children, Harold W. Jr., Jane M. and Paul E. Kallen-berger in Brotherhood Presbyter-ian Church in Wichita, KS.
He is survived by two sons, Hal Kallenberger and his wife, Glenda, and Paul Kallenberger and his wife, Gloria; one daughter, Jane Infranca, and her husband, Tony, of Trenton; four grandsons, Darrin Kallenberger, Bradford Kallenberger, Matthew Kallen-berger and Joseph Infranca; one granddaughter, Pamela Infranca of Trenton; three great-granddaughters, Francesca Infranca of Trenton, Tara Kallenberger and Trinidy Kallenberger; twin sisters, Leola Bloomfield and Leona Grayson; and a brother, Harry Kallenberger.
