My name is Seth Herrold and I am the new sports editor for the Trenton Republican-Times.
This website brought to you in part by the following sponsor:

My parents are Dan and Debbie Herrold of Gilman City. I have a younger brother, Benjamin, who attends the University of Missouri and is majoring in journalism. I also have a younger sister, Abbie, who will be a senior at Gilman City this fall.
I graduated in 2002 from Gilman City, where I played on the basketball, softball, golf and track teams. I ran the 300-meter hurdles and was a member of the 4 x400 relay team in track. I also did the triple jump. Needless to say, with golf season going on at the same time as track, my letter-jacket never had to carry the intense weight the Newtown-Harris girls’ jackets do.
I have always enjoyed sports and I am really enthused about covering them in the Trenton area. Although I am not from Trenton, I have followed the Bulldogs football and basketball teams closely over the past couple of years. I look forward to seeing their golf, track, softball, tennis, wrestling and volleyball teams in action as well. I am really excited about the direction the teams are headed and hope to see some great performances out of them in the future.
After Gilman City, I attended North Central Missouri College for two years, receiving my associate of arts degree. I then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville for two years. I am a proud alum of NCMC and I have enjoyed covering their baseball and softball teams this spring. I can’t wait to see the basketball teams hit the floor this fall; both programs have made huge strides since I attended. I look for both teams to continue the success they saw last season.
I have worked for the Republican-Times before in the fall of 2005, when I covered the softball and basketball teams for the area HDC Conference schools of Mercer, Gilman City, Newtown-Harris, Grundy R-5 and Tri-County. I look forward to continuing the coverage of these area schools as well as Princeton. I have watched a lot of HDC sports in my life and I always enjoy the games, especially the Gilman City-Tri-County games.
I have been working alongside former sports editor Greg Dalrymple for the past six weeks, learning along the way. The staff at the Republican-Times has been great and helped me transition into the job a lot.
I am really looking forward to this job and everything that comes with it.
