Tom Eaves, a 75-year-old former Trenton resident, died at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City. He was a resident of Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in the Trenton IOOF Cemetery.
A scheduled family visitation is one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mr. Eaves was born on Feb. 1, 1932 in Trenton, the son of Robert D. and Emma Courtney Eaves Sr. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he was married on May 3, 1959 in Edinburg to Janice Ruth Leeper, who survives of the home in Kansas City. He was a locksmith all his life and worked for the railroad for 18 years. He graduated in 1975 from Southwest Baptist College and pastored in three different churches, Eldorado Springs, Mill Creek and Independence, all in Missouri. Before moving to Kansas City, the couple resided in Bolivar and Independence.
Mr. Eaves was a member of the Word of Life Church in St. Joseph, the Narvre Retired Railroaders and the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Ruth Ann Poe of Kansas City, Rhonda Marshall of St. Joseph and Rebecca Eaves of Gladstone; one sister, Laura Jane Brown of Trenton; and two grandsons, Tommy and Joshua Marshall.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, Robert Jr. and Byron Eaves; a sister, Colene Buzzard; and his step-father, Jessie Walker.
