The commissioners said during a meeting this morning that no one has come forward in Washington Township to accept an appointment of township clerk or trustee. According to Missouri State Statutes 65.550 and 65.560, the commission now has the authority to annex the township into an adjoining township. Commissioners said that Washington Township adjoins both Franklin and Harrison townships. The commission has agreed to give the township until June 15 to organize with a full slate of officers or they will take action. Anyone willing to serve as clerk or trustee is asked to contact Grundy County Clerk Kristi Urich at 359-6305.
