The Trenton High School golf team finished the first day of the Class 2 State Golf Championships at Bolivar on Monday.
The Bulldogs got mixed results from their squad and finished the first round in a three-way tie with Lutheran and Brookfield for fourth overall with a team score of 337.

Trenton was 21 strokes behind Dixon, who set the pace for the first day with a team score of 316.
Tyler Brinkley was the star of the day for the Bulldogs with his score of 78. The score was the lowest of the day for the Bulldogs and it put Brinkley in a tie for ninth overall in the tournament.
Evan Fries, in his fourth state tournament, finished with an 83. That mark put Fries in a group of six golfers tied for 30th overall.
Jim Weaver shot an 85, establishing himself as Trenton’s third best golfer of the day. Weaver’s 85 tied him for 47th out of the 123-person field.
Ethan Bunnell shot a 90 for his opening round. Bunnell posted Trenton’s fourth best score and was tied for 73rd after the first round.
Logan Wyant was fifth for the Bulldogs, shooting a 91 and was tied for 79th. .
The top golfers through the opening round were Dixon’s Jace Long and South Harrison’s Tucker Perkins, who both shot a tournament low 72.
The Bulldogs will look to climb the scoreboard and improve on their scores today as the state golf championships resume for the second and final, round at the Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar. The top 15 individuals will medal.
