Edith Aileen Rhoades

Edith Aileen Rhoades, an 83-year-old resident of Chula, died on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at the Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Galt West Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the funeral home, where general visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007 and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday.
Mrs. Rhoades was born on May 16, 1923 in Lindley, the daughter of Ernest and Nancy Jane McBurney Tolle. She was a graduate of Galt High School. She was a member of the Chula Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed family holidays, traveling, quilting and gardening.
She was married in Laredo on Aug. 30, 1941 to Vaughn Eaverett Rhoades, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2007. The couple farmed most of their live in the Laredo and Chula areas.She also worked a few years at the Hedrick Medical Center. The couple had been residents of Chula for 31 years.
She is survived by four daughters, Ann Oertwig of Chillicothe, Ernestine Railsback and her husband, Richard, of Chillicothe, Joyce Keithley and her husband, Larry, of Avalon and Glenda Gillilan and her husband, Robert, of Chillicothe; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Page and Tressa Merril, both of Chillicothe; one brother, Howard Tolle of Holton, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; two daughters, Ruth Roney and Mary Wilson; a granddaughter, Stacy Gillilan; three brothers, John Tolle, Clarence Tolle and William Tolle; seven sisters, Lucy Cowhick, Ina Moore, Alice Tolle, Gracie Tolle, Nancy Langston and two infant sisters.
The family suggests memorials to the Chula First Responders or the Chula Community Center. They may be left at or mailed to the Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
