THS Tennis gets win over Wentworth

The Trenton High School tennis team was in action Tuesday afternoon in Trenton. The Bulldogs played host to the Wentworth Military Academy.
The Bulldogs got good play from all players and beat Wentworth, 7-2.

Zack Peoples got the Bulldogs off on the right foot in the number one spot. Peoples jumped ahead of his opponent early and never looked back, pulling away for a 8-1 victory.
Skyler Barron was strong in the two spot, winning his match 8-3 to put Trenton in front 2-0.
Ron Brock outlasted his opponent in a hard-fought match, taking a 8-5 win.
Russ Murphy gave the Bulldogs another victory when he beat his opponent in the four spot, 8-4.
The Bulldogs got a dominating performance out of Kile Brewer in the five spot that sealed the win for Trenton. Brewer was strong throughout the match and pulled away to an 8-1 win.
Wentworth finally got on the board in the six spot when Trenton’s Travis Bruner lost a hard-fought match by a score of 8-5.
Trenton entered doubles play leading 5-1, but the Bulldogs didn’t let up.
The tandem of Peoples and Barron ran away with the first doubles match of the day, winning 8-2.
Brock and Murphy combined to win the second match, shutting out their Wentworth opponents in the process. Their 8-0 win put the Bulldogs up by a score of 7-1.
Wentworth took the last doubles match over Brewer-Bruner. 6-3, making the final score 7-2 in favor of Trenton.
Trenton coach Mike Bosley was pleased with his team’s overall performance and happy with the win.
“It was a good team victory,” Bosley said.
The Bulldogs moved to 4-8 on the season. The Trenton tennis team will be back in action Thursday afternoon as they host LeBlond at Trenton.
