Josh Gott Receives Eagle Scout Award

Trenton resident Josh Gott received his Eagle Scout Award during ceremonies on Sunday at the Edinburg Baptist Church.

The ceremony was conducted by Troop 97 Scoutmaster Kevin Bailey, Greg Cross, Bill Vaughn, Dr. Paul Cox and Bro. Stan Rushton, pastor of the Edinburg Baptist Church. Gott is a member of Troop 97 and the son of Dan and Jeanan Gott of Trenton.
For his Eagle Scout project, Gott painted the swing set, merry-go-round and repaired the jungle gym at the Edinburg Baptist Church. He also moved the carport closer to the church house to make more room for parking in the church parking lot.
Rank advancements achieved include Arrow of Light, God and Family Boy Scout, Tenderfoot Scout, Second Class Scout, First Class Scout, Star Scout and Life Scout. He served as librarian and quartermaster for his troop and earned the World Conservation Award.
Merit badges earned include Camping, Citizenship in Community, Citizenship in Nation, Citizenship in World, Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental science, Family Life, First Aid, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Swimming, Archery, Cooking, Leatherwork, Pioneer, Computers, Indian Lore, Nature, Sculpture and Soil and Water.
Gott was tapped into the Tribe of Mic-O-Say as Brave Steel Shot in 2003. He has advanced to the ranks of warrior and firebuilding and currently holds the rank of tom-tom beater.
