Funeral services for Bernice Fulkerson will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Gene Schreffler will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
There will be a family visitation at the mortuary one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Fulkerson, an 84-year-old former Galt resident,, died at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where she had resided the past five years.
Mrs. Fulkerson was born on Feb. 25, 1923 at Galt, the daughter of Otto A. and Irma Barr Green. She attended Galt schools. She was married on Feb. 21, 1943 at Galt to Charles Preston Fulkerson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2006. After their marriage, they lived on farms near Galt until 1950, when they bought a farm just west of Galt to make their home. They resided there until she moved to Sunnyview Nursing Home at Trenton. Mrs. Fulkerson was co-owner of Fulkerson’s Locker at Galt until 1975.
She was a member of the Galt Baptist Church, the Galt Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Black Oak Extension Club. While raising her daughters, she was actively involved in the Galt PTA and served for many years as a 4-H leader.
Mrs. Fulkerson is survived by two daughters, Marsha, now Mrs. Ray Test of Lee’s Summit, and Nancy, now Mrs. Charles May of Peculiar; a brother, Robert Green, of California; a sister, Mary Helen Martin of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters and three brothers.
The family suggests memorials to the Galt Baptist Church of the Alzheimer’s Association.
