Sherry Mihalovich presented information about the Holiday Smiles Gift Shop fund-raiser, which provides items in the price range of 25 cents to $12 for students to purchase as holiday gifts for family members. The PTO will sponsor the program at Rissler during the week of Dec. 10-14 and students will be able to purchase the gifts during the school day. While the PTO will only receive 10 percent of the proceeds, it was felt that it would be fun for students. Additional information on the event will be announced next fall.
In other business, Molly Long was re-elected president, with Sherry Searcy serving as vice-president, Ronda Lickteig as secretary and Frances Whitney as treasurer. Chairpersons include Sherry Mihalovich, holiday gift shop; Lynn Griffin and Debra Young, yearbook; Sherry Searcy, Molly Long and Nicole Neal, chili supper/book fair; and Amanda Bachman, spring activity.
Before adjourning, the group discussed ways to increase parent participation and agreed to investigate the possibility of offering child care during meetings next year and to include programs as part of some meetings.
