Bulldogs Golf Team Places Fourth At Plattsburg

The Trenton High School boys golf team returned to the links on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs placed fourth among 14 teams in the Plattsburg Tournament.
Squads competed in the three divisions – Individual, Best Ball and Scramble. In all three events competitors played 18 holes. In individual, a golfer plays his own ball. In best ball, two teammates each play the hole, with only the best score counting. In scramble, two teammates each hit their own ball and then choose the best shot to play.

The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 240. Cameron won the meet with a team score of 225. Excelsior Springs was second with a team score of 229 and LeBlond was third with a team score of 239. Lafayette finished fifth with a score of 247.
Evan Fries placed fourth in the individual event with a score of 80. Trenton’s Tyler Brinkley and Ethan Bunnell combined to shoot a best ball score of 85 and Wyant and Weaver teamed up to finish fifth in the scramble event with a score of 75.
Kerns-Poe of Lafayette was the individual medalist with a score of 71. Zieber of Cameron was second with a score of 76 and Goetz of Excelsior Springs was third with a score of 79. Waller of Benton was fifth with a score of 83.
Stolz and Fletcher of Smithville combined to shoot the low best ball score, 74. O’Connor and White of Cameron were second with a score of 78. Third place went to Adams and Decker of Excelsior Springs with a 79 and fourth place went to Brown and Fairchild of Hamilton with a score of 80. Orrick’s team of Waters and Kearns wrapped up the top five best ball scores with a total of 82.
Gould and Rogers of Cameron and Morehead and Randall of Excelsior Springs tied with the low scramble score of 71. Brewer and Sags of Mid-Buchannan were third with a 73. Vertin and Wineinger of LeBlond finished fourth with a score of 74.
The Bulldogs are in Chillicothe on Tuesday for a dual with the Hornets. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. at the Green Hills Golf Course.
