Grundy County Clerk Kristi Urich said she received a proclamation signed by Madison Township Trustee Dale Alumbaugh indicating the need for the special election. Candidates Gayle McCloud and Tammy Burgess each received 35 votes for the position of board member, tying for second for the two-year term. Frank Todd received 56 votes. Mrs. Urich said the township will bear the cost for the election and noted that the ballots will be hand-counted, without the use of the electronic scanning machine.
Voters will cast ballots at the Edinburg Baptist Church from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 1.
