John W. Williams, an 87-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Tuesday afternoon, March 27, 2007 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Slater Funeral Home Trenton with Rev. Dan Moore officiating. Burial will be at Rural Dale Cemetery east of Trenton, following military graveside service by Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007 at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born on July 2, 1919 in Caledonia, AR, the son of Joseph Roscoe and Pearl Woods Williams. He attended Arkansas and west Texas schools. He lived in Kansas City and worked for Rival Manufacturing of Kansas City for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Trenton.
He was veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Major Dale Stepp American Legion Post No. 31, both of Trenton.
He was married in Kansas City on April 24, 1947 to Margaret Proffitt, who preceded him death on Oct. 10, 1983.
He is survived by one daughter, Molly Orndorff and her husband, Donald, of Trenton; two granddaughters, Margaret Howell of Jamesport and Mary Crawford and her husband, Shannon, of Gladstone; three great-granddaughters, Kayla Howell of Jamesport and Emily Crawford and Jada Crawford, both of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death wife; his parents; five sisters, Nora Tomlinson, Viola Post, Billie Cates, Willie Hendricks and Colleen Geder; and two brothers, Wilse Williams and Jim Williams.
