Trenton High School will be sending four teams to the national FCCLA Leadership Conference STAR Events competition this summer while Trenton Middle School will send one team following state contests held over the weekend as part of the State FCCLA Leadership Conference in Columbia.
FCCLA Students Qualify for N ationals
To earn a spot at the national contest, teams received a Gold rating and were number one in the state competition. The national contest will be held on July 7-12 in Anaheim, CA.
Qualifying from Trenton High School were Cara Ricketts, Nicole Munday, Ciara Gibson and Mitchell Bailey, senior members in Applied Technology; Molly Holeman, Elizabeth Hoffman, Lindsay Creason, Kimby Brown, Derek Miller and Logan Epperson, Senior Display; Scott Mayfield, Shelby Muff and Erika Ebersold, junior Manual; and Taylor Cox, Job Interview.
The TMS Chapter Service Manual participants also received a Gold Award and qualified for nationals. Team members are Kaylee Lickteig, Haley Creason and Alexis Whitney.
Also receiving a Gold award from THS but not qualifying for the national contest were Melissa Gay, Michelle Gay and Trisha Ireland, senior National Programs in Action; Jessica Dannatt, Jennie Washburn, Aubrey Utley, Ashley Breazeale and Leslie Dunkin, junior National Programs in Action; Emily Smith, Madison Imgarten, Charlesy Adams, Derik Keith and James Dannatt, senior Interpersonal Communications; Erin McDonald, Misty Sharp, Sallie Lake, Kiley Slater, Megan Hilsabeck and Ron Brock, senior Manual; Tony Thompson, Garth Griswold, Aaron Smith, Kylie Russell and Lance Stiles, junior Display Chapter Showcase; and Dylan Stacy, Christian Fuller, Marshall Foster, Mercedes Barron and Samantha Fair, junior members in Applied Technology.
Silver awards went to Lindsay Dustman, Rebekah Boone, Austin Thompson Stephanie Bramblett and Amanda Flieger-Peterson, senior display in Chapter Service project; Ryan Ferguson, Scott Stevens, Kyle Hoyt, Jim Weaver, JaNea Whitney and Mackenzie Hall, senior Illustrated Talk; and Amber Maberry, Skylar Shipley, Tasha Ewing and Emily Anderson, junior Illustrated Talk.
Bronze award winners included Travis Bruner and Taylor Lynch, junior Entrepreneurship.
The THS chapter earned the Most Active Chapter in the State of Missouri Award for high schools with enrollment of 400 or less on stage. Misty Sharp and Cara Ricketts accepted the award. The chapter was also honored as the second largest chapter in the state with 172 members.
Other awards received were Show Me 5 Missouri Membership recognition, STAR Chapter for Membership, Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety, Community Service, Financial Fitness, STOP the Violence, Student Body and Show Me Missouri Teen Times.
TMS students receiving a Silver rating but not qualifying for the national contest were Loren Ross, Alexandria Bain and Hannah Griffin, Chapter Service Display. Olivia Helmandollar competed in impromptu speaking and received a state rating. Other middle school students attending were Cydney Ferguson, Chelsea McCollum, Kristyn Keith, Ashley Gross, Elizabeth Woodson, James Deaver, Bruce Fair, Lucas Hahn, Jennifer Shula, Samantha Hudson, Courtney Leeper, Mackenzie Mack and Morgan Brown. They were accompanied by advisor Suzi Beck.
Participating from the THS chapter in conference activities were State Vice President for Region 2 Camie Steinhoff, National Vice President of STAR Events Katherine Hoffman, Region 2 Second Vice President Jessica Dannatt and Region 2 Historian Dylan Stacy. Other participants were Mike Tipton, junior/senior Parliamentary Procedures STAR Event evaluator; Kyle Hoyt, senior Illustrated Talks evaluator; Derik Keith, senior Entrepreneurship evaluator; Aaron Shipley-Fair, junior/senior Parliamentary Procedures youth consultant; Sallie Lake, Focus on Children youth consultant; Kayna Tolle,Crystal Pash and Tasha Hutchinson, voting delegates; and Derek Miller, Mitchell Bailey and Stephanie Bramblett, teen session room consultants.
