Students will sharpen up their judging skills in preparation for further judging competitions in areas ranging from agronomy, dairy foods, entomology and farm management to forestry, floriculture, horses, poultry, soils and meats.
Students from throughout the northern half of Missouri will be in Trenton with events scheduled to begin with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. and contests will begin at 9:30 a.m. The event is being held in cooperation with the Area 2 Agriculture Educators.
Steve Maxey, Director of Development at NCMC, is encouraging restaurants to expect crowds during the lunch hour as students are on their own for lunch. In addition, Maxey asked local merchants to provide welcome messages on marquees indicating “Welcome to NCMC Ag Contest Day.” It is expected that over 50 school busses will be on campus and asked that students, college employees and patrons avoid parking around the Ketcham Community Center on Friday morning. As a result of this large contest day, the Ketcham Community Center will not open until 5 p.m. on Friday.
Contests will take place on the NCMC campus, the North Missouri Fair Grounds and Rock Barn and the Barton Farm Campus, southeast of Trenton.
