TMU Director Chad Davis told board members that changes are planned in the Scott and Haddox waterline replacement project, postponing work on Madison Street, west across a ditch toward the Grundy County Health Department, and instead looking at work that would begin at Madison Street east to Oklahoma Avenue, then going north to Scott Street. Davis said he still needs to meet with TMU workers regarding the change, but felt it would be best to do the second project at this time and postpone the first project. No official vote was taken on the change.
Davis also updated the board on design discussions under way with Burns and McDonnell concerning the wastewater treatment plant project. He said two systems are being looked at, both of which would cost relatively the same amount, but indicated that one system seems to be more favorable for the city. He also discussed a stream study that is to be done this summer on Muddy Creek, similar to the one completed last year by the state but not accepted by the EPA. The test would be paid for by the state. Davis noted that any adjustments that may be suggested by the study could be made with the new plant.
The board approved a bill from Theresa Price for $2,767.65 for financial work with which she assisted the city. Mrs. Price is the former comptroller for the city of Trenton and now does consulting work. She has been working with the current comptroller, Rosetta Marsh, on various utility financial items.
The board discussed information concerning federal standards that may or may not affect TMU, which Davis said officials are still trying “to sort it out.” Members also discussed the effect to electric rates that coal gasification could have if implemented, as is being discussed.
An executive session for legal matters was held with no announcement being made. The board will hold a workshop at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 to work on the new budget. The next meeting of the board will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24.
