Funeral services for Carolyn G. Lenhart of Trenton will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton. Rev. Linda Yeager and Rev. Ben Helmer will officiate. Burial will be at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton.
Mrs. Lenhart was born on Feb. 22, 1920 in Abilene, KS, the daughter of Will and Nell C. Green. She attended Abilene schools and graduated from the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and Psi Chi honorary psychology society.
Mrs. Lenhart married William O. Lenhart on Oct. 4, 1941. He died in 1983.
Mrs. Lenhart was a member of the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. She also served in several capacities, including membership on the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators, the Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging, the Board of Trustees of the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library, the Grundy County Friends of the Arts, the North Central Missouri College Foundation, the Missouri Library Planning Committee, the Advisory Committee for Adult Education at NCMC, the Citizens Advisory Committee at the Trenton R-9 School District, the Board of Directors of the Riverside Country Club, the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee and the 911 Study Committee.
She was a member of the Dorcas Richardson chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution, Chapter AD, PEO, the American Association of University Women, the Shakespearean Circle and the Antique Study Club. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
In 1995, Mrs. Lenhart received the Above and Beyond Award for Community Service from the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce. She prepared successful nominations to the Missouri Division of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library and the Rock Barn to the National Register of Historic Places.
She is survived by one daughter, Katherine B. Lenhart of Downers Grove, IL; two sons, William O. Lenhart Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Bethany, and Wendell J. Lenhart and his wife, Tricia, of Trenton; four grandchildren, Johnathan and Creed Lenhart of Bethany, Andrew Akers of Sedalia and Katie Lenhart of Trenton; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Akers of Sedalia.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library or the NCMC “Invest in the Vision” capital campaign.
