Walter E. Stimpson

Walter E. Stimpson, a 67-year-old resident of Laredo, died on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at the Rural Dale Baptist Church, east of Trenton. Burial will be in the Rural Dale Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to the service. General visitation is under way at the Lindley Funeral Home in Laredo.
Mr. Stimpson was born on July 25, 1939 in Grundy County, the son of Charles E. and Mary E. Collins Stimpson. He was married in Laredo on Nov. 7, 1960 to Joyce Ishmael, who survives of the home.
Mr Stimpson graduated in 1958 from Galt High School. He entered the Air Force in 1960 and was a tech sergeant, retiring in 1980 after 20 years of service. He received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He lived all his life in Grundy County, except during his time in the service. He was a member of the Laredo Lions Club, the Laredo Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service and the American Legion Post No. 274 at Browning.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Harold Stimpson and his wife, Judy, of Chillicothe, Joseph Stimpson and his wife, Deborah, of Galt and Daniel Stimpson and his wife, Vicki, of Trenton; one sister, Judy Hill of Des Moines, IA; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Jane.
