Jose Antonia Maria “Tony” Quintana, a 77-year-old resident of Spickard and former business owner in Spickard, died at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at his home, where he had been under hospice care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Spickard Masonic Cemetery at Spickard.
The Rosary will be read at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton, followed by a scheduled family visitation until 8 p.m..
Mr. Quintana was born on June 13, 1929 at Los Torres San Miguel, NM, the son of Manuel and Dulcinea Gonzales Quintana. The family moved to California in 1942 and he graduated from Tamal Pais High School in Mill Valley, CA in 1949.
He was married in Chillicothe on Nov. 9, 1948 to Thelma I. Coon, who preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1999. After their marriage they lived at Trenton, where he was employed by the Rock Island Railroad. In 1950 they moved to Marin City, CA, where he was employed as a cook. In 1954 he began employment with United Parcel Service as a driver, moving into management before moving to Spickard in 1972. He drove trucks for McCarty Truck Lines in addition to owning and operating Quintana’s Quandry and Tony’s Cafe along with his wife. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Trenton, Chillicothe Elks Lodge #656, Knights of Columbus and he was a past Grand Knight and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus at San Rafael, CA.
Mr. Quintana is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Collene Quintana of Spickard; a brother, Roger Quintana of Burley, ID; a sister, Febe Quintana of Sacramento, CA; and a grandson, Manuel Quintana of Spickard.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Aurora Hutchins, and five brothers, Luis, Reynaldo, Erensto, Ramon, and LeRoy.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be left to either the Wright Memorial Hospice or the American Cancer Society. These may be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary at PO Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
The family is at the home of Tony Quintana at 1136 NE 7th Ave. at Spickard.
