Lee Read, a 95-year-old resident of Gilman City, died on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007 at a Bethany Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 at the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church in Gilman City. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove #1 Cemetery at Gilman City.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Gilman City, where a general visitation begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mr. Read was born on Sept. 21, 1911 in Harrison County, the son of Edward and Mary House Read. He was married on Jan. 21, 1934 to Hazel I. Cook, who preceded him in death on May 21, 1997. He was a farmer and a member of the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church in Gilman City.
He is survived by one son, George Read and his wife, Debra, of Gilman City; a daughter, Christine Ward and her husband, Ron, of Gilman City; a sister, Hattie Mae Pilcher of Jamesport; two brothers, Ivan Read of Gilman City and Junior Read; five grandchildren, Tena Wilson and her husband, Joe, of Gilman City, Jeff Ward and his wife, Bobbie, of Gilman City, Tammy Bowles and her husband, Brad, of Bethany, Greg Ward and his wife, Caamille of Bethany, and Angie Whitt and her husband, Kevin, of Hamilton; and 13 great-grandchildren, Sawyer DeWitt, Haize Wilson, Bryton, Blayton and Brylee Bowles, Mason, Miles, Tiara, Austin and Dylan Ward and Kyle, Ally and Karson Whitt.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marie Pixley; two brothers, Lewis and Loren Read; and one grandchild.
