The 2007 Grundy County Spelling Bee will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Grundy R-5 Elementary School Gym in Humphreys.

Two students and one alternate from each fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade in the county have participated in a local school bee and through a spell-off, have earned the privilege of competing in the county-wide event. Two county champions will be selected to compete in the regional finals, which will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Center in St. Joseph at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10.
The pronouncer for the county bee will be Elizabeth Gibson of Spickard. Judges will include Amy Axtell, Patsy Bailey, Pam May and Jennifer Rogers.
The spelling bee is sponsored by the St. Joseph News-Press and is open to the public. Anyone with questions may call Amy Botts at 673-6314.
