HDC Tournament Continues

The semifinals are set for Wednesday in the HDC Conference Tournament following games played on Monday night at Jamesport. The Newtown-Harris boys, Newtown-Harris girls and the Gilman City girls all earned wins to complete the bracket.
The N-H boys beat Pattonsburg, 66-28 the Newtown-Harris girls beat Cainsville, 56-29; and Gilman City beat North Harrison, 56-24.

Newtown-Harris
vs. Pattonsburg
The Tigers led the Panthers 37-12 at halftime and went on to roll their way into the semifinals by 38 points. Brandon Coin was steady all night for Newtown-Harris, scoring a game-high 24 points.
Tyler Busick had 12 points, Justin Ralls had 10 points and Andy Busick chipped in 10 points. Three Tigers missed the game, including starter K.J. Cool.
N-H will play fourth-seeded Ridgeway on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Pattonsburg returns to the floor tonight against North Harrison at 9 p.m.
Newtown-Harris
vs. Cainsville
Krista Abernathy led the Lady Tigers to a first-round win over the Redettes. Abernathy scored 20 points as N-H beat Cainsville by 37 points.
The Lady Tigers led at halftime by a score of 36-17. Jessica Simpson also finished with 14 points as N-H advanced to the semifinals.
The Lady Tigers will play Tri-County on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Cainsville will play Pattonsburg at 7:30 tonight.
Gilman City
vs. North Harrison
The Lady Hawks led by 10 points at halftime, 23-13. Like several HDC teams, the Gilman City girls are trying to fight off sickness as GC played North Harrison without three players, including starter Randee Prindle.
Forward Kyla Payne picked up the slack, however, with a game-high 29 points. Monica Wilson had 14 points for the Lady Hawks and Abbie Herrold scored 11 points as the Gilman City girls cruised to a 32-point victory.
The Lady Hawks will play North Mercer on Wednesday at 7:30. North Harrison plays tonight against Winston at 4:30.
The championship games will be held on Saturday, with the girls contest at 6 p.m. and the boys being played at 7:30 p.m.
