The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Missouri is trying to locate all wartime veterans age 65 or oder and who are living on low incomes to present them with information concerning VA benefits.

r more of service during a wartime period. However, persons do not have to serve overseas to qualify. If a veterans has income from all sources that is less than the income limitations for the VA pension program, they may be entitled to receive a monthly check.
Under the pension program, there are three levels of benefits, the “Basic” pension, the “Housebound” pension and those in need of the “Aid and Attendance” of another person. Single veterans who have incomes from all sources that is less than $10,929 a year or $910 a month are probably entitled to a pension from the VA at the “Basic” level. However, due to a recent court ruling, from now until February or March of 2007, they may be considered for the “Housebound” level, which is $123,356 per year or $1,113 per month for single veterans. Married veterans with a family income less than $14,313 a year or $1,192 may be considered to a pension check from either the first level or at the second level if the income is $16,740 per year or $1,395 per month.
If a veteran is current receiving “Basic” pension benefits, they may also be entitled to an increase to the “Housebound” rate, $203 more a month.
If a veteran requires the daily assistance of another person, they may be entitled to benefits at the “aid and attendance” level. Single veterans can receive as much as $1,519 a month and a married veteran as much as $1,801 per month.
