Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Fred Ferrell was the guest speaker at Thursday’s meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club.
Ag Director Speaks To Rotary
Steve Maxey introduced Ferrell, who talked about the importance of agriculture to the state and the responsibility in training youth of the community so that they will come back to make their homes and work. He also talked about the evolution of agriculture, noting that he was a “chemical farmer” while his son is a “genetic farmer.” He praised the efforts of North Central Missouri College in providing the type of education needed for those involved in agriculture through its programs and the development of the Barton campus, which he was to tour in the afternoon.
During the business meeting, Maxey encouraged the club to sponsor a Youth Exchange Student for the next school year. The club was also thanked by Paul Jackson for its $200 donation to the Community Food Pantry building project. Terri Henderson also told about the Sesquicentennial music CD’s, now on sale at the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce office.
Special guests at the meeting were Shane Cox, Eric Woodard, Mack Woodard, Dan Engemann, Scott Long and Rev. Denise Turner.
