John Douglas Harden, a 65-year-old resident of Topeka, KS, died on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 at his home. He was a former Harris resident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at the Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Pastor Dennis Daum will officiate. Burial will be in the Bairdstown Cemetery, north of Milan.
A visitation will be held one hour before the service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Harden was born on Nov. 1, 1941 in Milan, the son of Howard and Maudie White Harden. He was married on Aug. 11, 1962 in Grand Forks, ND to Helen Enger. He was later married to Charlene Hampton.
Mr. Harden had lived in Topeka one and one-half years. He had previously lived in Harris for 25 years, working as a road maintainer for the Medicine Creek Township and was also self-employed as a diesel mechanic. He had worked in Topeka for Rex’s Tire Shop and Powers Construction as a mechanic. In his early years, he worked for Eddy Motors in Milan and was a land surveyor in North Dakota. He enjoyed riding horses, hunting, camping, fishing and boating.
He is survived by five daughters, Renea Fiebig and her husband, Kerry, of Newtown, Christine Ralls and her husband, David, of Topeka, Dondie Meyer of Topeka, Candy Hiebert of Moundridge, KS and Alta Myers and her husband, Rocky, of Higbee; his mother, Maudie Coon of Milan; 15 grandchildren, April Brown, Johnnie “L.J.” Danner, Felicia Danner, Danielle Smith, Janelle Nichols, Charnel Ralls-Thomas, Lee Ralls, Cody Ralls, Bryan Meyer, Ashley Meyer, Christopher Jolly, Keilonna Myers, Sierra Myers, Morgan Myers and Gage Myers; 10 great-grandchildren; one nephew, Jay Stiner; and two nieces, Rose and Elizabeth Harden.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Billy Dean Harden; and one sister, Bonnie Louise Hoover.
