Winston Ray Norris, an 80-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 5:22 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
A mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
General visitation is under way at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton, where a rosary and visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007.
Mr. Norris was born on April 24, 1926 in Richmond, VA, the son of Deane C. and Virginia Ruth Spiers Norris. Following high school, he served 11 years in the U.S. Army. He attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX, receiving a bachelor’s degree, and St. Louis University in St. Louis, receiving a master’s degree.
He was married in Paris, France on March 7, 1953 to Dorothy Cecelia Norris, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2004. After his military service, he worked for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. He retired in 1980 and the couple moved to Trenton.
He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Margaret Hamilton and her husband, Jim, of Trenton, Birdie Stamp of Trenton and Patricia Talley of Beggs, OK; and a brother-in-law, David Marsh and his wife, Delores, of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister, Dorothy Jamerson.
Memorials have been suggested to the Grundy County Senior Center. They may be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary at PO Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
