Step Up To Leadership, a hands-on leadership academy, will be held beginning in February in Trenton and in March in Bethany.

The Green Hills Community Action Agency and the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce are partnering to deliver the 12-week curriculum. Enrollment is limited, so persons should call soon to reserve a spot. Potential candidates may call 660-359-3907. Each session will last three hours, and the Trenton academy will be held at the GHCAA at 1506 Oklahoma Ave. in Trenton. The Bethany location will be at Housing Authority office.
Facilitators will be Barb Spencer, Tammy Taylor and Terri Henderson. Past graduates of former academies will also be utilized to help with facilitation.
The program is free to anyone who is interested in making a difference in their community and who is willing to commit to 12 weeks of sessions. Each participant will receive a $20 stipend that will be paid for each completed session. Upon graduation, participants are encouraged to apply for a mini-grant to help fund a community project of interest to them. Enrollees will learn how to apply for grants, write resumes, diversity, team building, identifying one’s passion and turning the passion into action to better their community, and to build relationships within the community.
