Udovich received minor injuries while a passenger in the vehicle, 16-year-old Jeffery Doolin of Trenton, received serious injuries. He was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton by private vehicle. Udovich refused treatment at the scene.
The truck was extensively damaged. The driver was given a summons for failure to display valid plates.
Monday’s accident occurred around 1:20 a.m. four miles west of Mercer. The patrol said an SUV driven by Gary L. Campbell of Mercer was northbound and failed to make a curve. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch embankment before coming to rest. Campbell and a passenger, 32-year-old Tamara Campbell of Mercer, received minor injuries. Mrs. Campbell was taken to the Wayne County, IA Hospital in Corydon, IA by the Mercer County Ambulance and Campbell refused treatment at the scene.
