Funeral services for Curtis Lynn Ely will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at the Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton.

A scheduled family visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. General visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 and all day Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006.
Burial will be in the Edinburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Edinburg with military graveside rites.
Mr. Ely, a 55-year-old resident of 1008 McPherson Street in Trenton, died at 1:23 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St Joseph.
Mr. Ely was born on December 12, 1951 in Trenton, the son of James Curtis and Rosella Payne Ely. He graduated from Trenton High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction and did maintenance work at Lakeview Restaurant and Motel for 15 years.
He was married to Juanita Hill Reeder on June 23, 1987 in Trenton. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2006.
He was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church of Trenton and did volunteer work at the Grundy County Senior Center.
Mr. Ely is survived by a son, Robert Ely of Trenton; two daughters, Angie Fowler and her husband, Jonathan of Aiken, SC and Linda Akeson of Grovetown, GA; his mother, Rosella Ely of Trenton; three sisters, Mary Ellen Matranga and her husband, Larry of Osceola, IA, Ella Frost and her husband, Wendel of Cleveland, TN and Kathy Ely of Trenton; three step-daughters, Tommie McKibben and her husband, Roger of Winterset, IA, Bonnie Midgyett and her husband, Robert of Chillicothe, and Debbie Marshall and her husband, Daniel of Columbia; 15 step-grandchildren and 37 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father and two step daughters, Venita Creason and Vicky Sims.
