Jack Dolan, an 83-year-old Grundy County farmer, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2006 at the Quail Run Nursing Home in Cameron, where he had been since November 30, 2006.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be announced at a later date by the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton.
Mr. Dolan was born on April 9, 1923 near Meadville, the son of Royal Staley and Ethel Winnie Kerns Dolan. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served from June 10, 1944 until his honorable discharge on April 17, 1946. He served as a sniper/scout with the 1st Marines in the battle for Okinawa where her was wounded. He was the holder of the Bronze Star with a V, two Purple Hearts, and two Presidential Citations and numerous good conduct medals. He was married to Roberta Mae Baugher on Nov. 22, 1945 at Trenton. They had farmed all their married lives on a farm north of Trenton. He also sold produce for many years at the farmers market and on Ninth Street in Trenton.
Mr. Dolan is survived by his wife, Roberta Dolan, of the home in Spickard; a son, Mark Dolan of Trenton; and two grandchildren, Rachel Renee Dolan and Tobey Carpenter.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Francis and Junior Dolan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Wright Memorial Hospice or the Comfort Care Hospice.
