Phyllis P. Gumm, a 76-year-old resident of 803 Northeast 73rd Terrace in Gladstone, died on Friday afternoon, Dec. 8, 2006 at Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at the Spickard Christian Church. David Martin will officiate. Burial will be at the Spickard Masonic Cemetery at Spickard.
A family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Dec. 11, 2006) at the White Chapel in Gladstone and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 at the Wise and Slater Funeral Chapel in Spickard.
Mrs. Gumm was born on March 19, 1930 in Spickard, the daughter of John and Lera Pearl Coon Fitzpatrick. She graduated in 1943 from Spickard High School.
She was married on June 3, 1950 at Trenton to Gerald Gumm, who preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1979. The couple moved to the Kansas City area in 1951. She had been employed by the former National Bellas Hess of North Kansas City. She then worked for Parents Day Out of the Gladstone Methodist Church and was employed as a nursery attendant at the Gladstone Bowling Alley in Gladstone.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Gumm of the home; a grandson, Brandon Gumm of the home; a sister, Dixie Yates of Mill Grove; and one niece, Linda Lewis of Spring Lake, NC.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Wagner.
The family suggests memorials for her grandson’s education. They may be left at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
