The Economic Development Committee of the Trenton City Council will send two recommendations to the Trenton City Council at its meeting next Monday night.
Economic Development Committee Meets
City Administrator Kerry Sampson said the committee, which met on Tuesday afternoon, voted to recommend that the city continue to cash-rent land it owns in the north part of town to Nathan Whitney at a price of $100 per acre. It was one of three bids the city received last week in regard to the rental or sale of the property. Whitney and Aaron Bunnell both bid $100 per acre to cash-rent the property while Kenny Roberts submitted a bid of $84 per acre.
The second recommendation will be to move the fire training site and driving course area to a site on the south side of the road, near the shooting range. Sampson said the new 15-acre site will allow the training area and driving course to be closer to city utilities. The original site had been further west of the new location.
Sampson said the Trenton Park Board will also be looking at that area when it begins work on its new five-year plan, considering other possible recreation opportunities that could be placed at the site.
