Velma “Lucille” Carlson, a 75-year-old resident of Mead, NE, died on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 in Fremont, NE. She was a native of Spickard.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Mark Eldal of First Lutheran Church of Oakland, NE, will officiate.
General visitation is under way until 8 o’clock this evening (Monday, Dec. 4, 2006) at the funeral home and will continue from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Mrs. Carlson was born on Feb. 11, 1931 in Spickard, the daughter of Arthur “Forrest” and Laura Milner Hickman. She grew up in Missouri and lived in St. Joseph before moving to Omaha, NE and Waterloo, NE. She had resided in Mead for the past 26 years.
She was married on Oct. 5, 1963 at Fremont to Darrell Carlson, who survives of the home. She had previously worked at Big Smith Clothing Store in St. Joseph for 16 years and at the Hampton Inn in Omaha for five years. She was a member of the TOPS Club at Mead.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Carlson is survived by a son, David Carlson and his wife, Sheri, of Fremont; a daughter, Debra Mills and her husband, Peter, of Davey, NE; two brothers, Lyle Hickman and his wife, Willah, of Appleton City, and Eddie Hickman of Trenton; three sisters, Donita Hickman of Trenton, Norma Hodges of Cache, OK and Darlene Hickman of Lakewood, CO; and two grandchildren, Jessica Edwards and Gareth Mills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Hickman, and a sister, Doris Schwope.
