Harry E. Boyle, an 81-year-old resident of Jamesport, died at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006 at his residence, where he had been under hospice care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at the Shelburne Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Shelburne Cemetery, under the direction of the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home. of Trenton.
A family visitation and Masonic service will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Dec. 4, 2006) at the McWilliams Family Funeral Home in Jamesport.
Mr. Boyle was born on Jan. 26, 1925 at Spring Hill, the son of Francis and Fern Anderson Boyle. He graduated from Chillicothe High School and the Chillicothe Business College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard a submarine rescue ship in the Pacific. He was married at Jamesport on June 8, 1948 to Iris Dockery, who survives of the home. He worked as a depot agent for the Rock Island Railroad and the Northwestern in Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota and Illinois for 30 years, retiring in 1987. After his retirement, he spent time doing flea markets, buying and selling “junk” and opening a shop in Jamesport in 1994. He enjoyed playing jokes on his grandchildren and others and had nicknames for all his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Shelburne Baptist Church, the Jamesport Masonic Lodge, where he was a master for three years, the York Rite of Trenton, the Order of the Eastern Star in Gallatin for 17 years, serving many years as worthy patron, and the American Legion in Trenton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Harry D. Boyle, Steve Boyle and his wife, Emily, and Gary Boyle and his wife, Marie, all of Trenton; two sisters, Vivian Dunn and Vera Boyd, both of Clinton; 14 grandchildren, Jessica Johnson and her husband, Tim, Jackie Boyle and her fiance, Daniel Hamilton, JoEtta Hughs and her husband, Randy, Ramona Boyle and her finance, Trevor Walter, Kelton Boyle an his wife, Lea Ann, Ian Boyle and his wife, Jessica and Montgomery, Evan, Dylan Spencer, Garrett, Emily, Molly and Keenan Boyle; seven great-grandchildren, Trevor, Lanae and Patricia Johnson, Kiley Hamilton Shelby and Tremaine Boyle and Kaylea Boyle; and four step-great-grandchildren; Latoya, Luke, Landon and Lakisha Hughs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Boyle; and two sisters, Lucille Youngberg and Mary Hook.
