Lelia Scrivner, an 83-year-old former Jamesport resident, died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Jamesport.
A family visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday. General visitation begins after 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Scrivner was born on Aug. 18, 1923 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Harold and Leona Robertson Huckelberry. She graduated from high school in Kansas City, KS and attended Trenton Junior College, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She was married on Dec. 22, 1939 in Harrisonville to C.E. Garner, who preceded her in death. She was married on Feb. 7, 1975 in Chillicothe to Frank Scrivner, who also preceded her in death.
Mr. and Mrs. Scrivner lived in Chillicothe, later moving to the Hickory community. During that time she was employed as an RN at the Hedrick Medical Center. The couple moved to Harlingen, TX for several years, where she continued to work in the nursing profession and taught CNA classes until retiring in 1985. She moved back to the Trenton area to be near her family. She enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery work on the machine. She spent many hours cooking and caring for her family.
She is survived by one son, Robert Garner of Jamesport; three daughters, Peggy Crique of Emporia, KS, Carole Brennan of Harlingen and Erma Toleman of Anchorage, AK; three sisters, Alice Howlett of Trenton, Elloree Shuler of Holden and Ozella Scholl of Trenton; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; a son, Gary; and two brothers, Howard and Phillip Huckelberry.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Masonic Cemetery.
