NCMC dominated St. Mary’s University’s junior varsity at the Ketcham Community Center, 90-68.
“It was a great team effort, everyone contributed and I really credit our guards, who usually get most of the attention, for taking a back seat and executing the game plan to go inside to our posts,” Head Coach James Arnold said.
Sophomore Amber Jordan continues to have the hot hand, scoring 25 points. Jordan hit 6-of-10 shots from two-point range and was 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line. Jordan also pulled down 10 rebounds.
“Amber looked incredible and with her outside touch, along with Jilian (Palan) on the inside, they are a tough combo to guard,” Arnold said.
Palan, a freshman, was a force for NCMC under the basket, scoring 16 points, including converting 10-of-11 free throws. She also had eight rebounds.
Sophomore Megan Doty turned in another solid performance off the bench, scoring 13 points.
“Megan continues to be big off the bench for us,” Arnold said. “She gives us even more depth.”
The Lady Pirates led by 10 points early, 12-2, but the Lady Spiders cut that lead to four points before North Central separated from them midway through the first half. NCMC led at halftime, 51-28.
The Lady Pirates bench saw a lot of action in the second half and they played the Lady Spiders nearly even. Tiara Johnson also had a solid outing for the Lady Pirates with nine points, nine assists and five rebounds.
T. Durham led the Spiders with 24 of their 68 points. She hit five three pointers
The victory runs the Lady Pirates record to 6-0 overall. They have a short break and resume action against Ellsworth Community College on Wednesday, Nov. 22 in the KCC. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with a men’s game to follow.
