Ernest Hamilton Jr., a 70-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton. Dr. Clyde Elder and Rev. Denny Chesnut will officiate. Burial will be in the Trenton IOOF Cemetery in Trenton. Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 of Trenton will conduct military graveside rites.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mr. Hamilton was born on March 23, 1936 in Trenton, the son of Ernest and Lillian Kindred Hamilton Sr. He attended Jamesport schools. He was a resident of Clarinda, IA, for about 10 years before moving to Trenton, where he had lived for 38 years. He was a partner in Scholl and Hamilton Heating and Cooling for several years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in Virginia.
He was a member of the Trenton First Baptist Church and the Grand River Lodge No. 52, IOOF of Trenton.
He was married on Dec. 5, 1955 at Edinburg to Shirley Ann Vanderpool, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Angie Glenn of Gilman City; three sons, Dan Hamilton of Stevens Point, WI, Kirk Hamilton of Lawson and Chris Hamilton of Columbia; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Margaret Klinginsmith, Barbara Summerville and her husband, Floyd, Shyla Hamilton and Ellen Bowers and her husband, Johnnie, all of Trenton, Mary Vaughn of Raytown, Carolyn Webb of Smithville and Bertha May Barker of Kirksville; and two brothers, Gary Bonta of Victoria, TX and Billy Barker of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Regional Care Memorial Hospice of Gallatin.
