Floriene June Ulsrud, an 85-year-old resident of Princeton, died on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 at Pearl’s II Eden for Elders in Princeton.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 at the Ravanna Cemetery. Rev. Jennie Vertrees will officiate. Services are under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton.
Open visitation will be held from 8:30 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ulsrud was born on July 5, 1921 in Putnam County, the daughter of John Ellsworth and Mary Jane Stockman Smith. She was married to Floyd H. Daniel in 1942. On May 28, 1947, she was married to Dr. Merlin Ulsrud, who was a chiropractor in Albany. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1996.
Mrs. Ulsrud received her teacher’s certificate from Kirksville Teacher’s College in Kirksville, and taught in rural schools in Mercer and Gentry counties for several years. She lived most of her life in Albany, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, Esther Chapter #13, having served as past matron, and also served as past district deputy grand matron and as past grand rRepresentative. In 1997 she moved to Princeton, where she was a member of the Mercer County Genealogy and Historical Society, the Cornelia Beekman Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Mrs. Ulsrud is survived by a daughter, Sheila Ann Merrill and her husband, Mel, of Princeton; a son, John C. Ulsrud of Marshfield; a grandson she raised, Dr. Jason C. Ulsrud and his wife, Peggy, of Dallas, TX; two great-grandsons, Niko and Luka; two sisters, Harriett Goodin of Princeton and Margaret Broyles of Bethany; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Palmisano; an infant brother; and three brothers-in-law.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Order of Eastern Star, Esther Chapter #13 of Albany. Contributions may be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
