Four From Trenton Will Get American Farmer Degree

Four Trenton High School graduates are among 327 FFA members who will be receiving their American Farmer Degree during the National FFA Convention being held this week in Indianapolis, IN.

Ashley Schmidt, Megan Schmidt, Sadie Jones and Stephanie Gutshall will receive their degrees during ceremonies on Saturday night. Each recipient will receive a special certificate and a Gold Key, which is symbolic of this degree of membership. They will also be honored at a reception.
The 327 members from Missouri is the highest number from one state in the U.S.
Ashley Schmidt, a 2003 THS graduate, is the daughter of Larry and Carolyn Schmidt. She was selected the State Star in Agricultural Placement her senior year. Her SAE consisted of both dairy production and dairy placement.
She served as president of the Trenton FFA Chapter and also parliamentarian for the Area 2 FFA Association. Miss Schmidt has exhibited dairy cattle on the local and state level and was the Star Greenhand and was also selected as the Outstanding Junior. She competed on state level in Dairy Cattle Judging and Entomology. She is currently seeking an elementary education degree from Graceland University.
Megan Schmidt, a 2005 THS graduate, is the daughter of Larry and Carolyn Schmidt. She was a member of the Dairy Cattle Judging team that placed first at state and fifth at nationals. Her SAE consisted of both dairy production and dairy placement. She served as FFA chapter secretary her senior year and placed second on the state level in the proficiency award area of Dairy Placement. She received a State Group I rating all four years in high school competing in FFA knowledge, Meats, Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Livestock Judging.
Miss Schmidt was also a National FFA Scholarship recipient. She has exhibited cattle at the local and state level. Megan is currently attending North Central Missouri College and plans to transfer to Northwest Missouri State University, majoring in agricultural education.
Sadie Jones, a 2005 THS graduate, is the daughter of Zach and Sonci Jones. She was a member of the Dairy Cattle Judging team that placed first at state and fifth at nationals. Her SAE consisted of beef production, agricultural placement and working at Barnes Greenhouse.
Miss Jones has exhibited beef cattle at the local and state level. She served as FFA chapter vice-president her senior year. She received a State Group I rating in FFA Knowledge, Meats and Dairy Cattle Evaluation. She is currently attending the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in animal science.
Stephanie Gutshall, a 2005 THS graduate, is the daughter of Dennis and Marcia Gutshall. She was a member of the Dairy Cattle Judging team that placed first at state and fifth at nationals. Her SAE consisted of beef production and placement at Barnes Greenhouse.
Miss Gutshall has exhibited beef cattle at the local and state level. She served as president of the Area 2 FFA Association and FFA chapter vice-president her senior year. Stephanie was also a National FFA Scholarship recipient. She received a State Group I rating in FFA Knowledge, Meats and Dairy Cattle Evaluation. She is currently attending the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in plant science.
