Princeton Wins District Opener

Princeton opened Class 1, District 8 play on Friday night with a win over Albany, 47-0.

The Tigers scored 20 points in the first half and 21 points in the fourth quarter. Michael Ormsby had a pair of first-half rushing scores. He finished the game with 126 yards on 23 carries.
Ethan Stark also scored twice. He caught a 12-yard pass from Troy Meinke in the second quarter and returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown. Zane Meyers had a special teams’ score when he returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown.
Nathan Wilson and Aaron Martin each added fourth quarter scores for the Tigers. Princeton finished with 252 yards of total offense. Meinke finished 3-for-12 for 44 yards. He had a touchdown pass and threw one interception.
The Tigers held Albany to only 80 yards of total offense. Princeton improves to 5-3 overall and 5-1 in the Grand River Conference. Princeton will take on another GRC opponent on Friday night in South Harrison. The Bulldogs lost to Gallatin in their Class 1, District 9 opener.
