Marching Festival Features 36 Bands

Thirty-six high school bands will be in Trenton on Saturday to participate in the 10th annual Missouri Day Marching Festival, one of several activities being held as part of the Missouri Day Festival.

Evaluative events will be held for participating bands in parade, auxiliary, drumline and field show. Several of the bands will also be competing in the Missouri Day Parade, which gets under way at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the corner of Crowder Road and Main Street. Several of those bands will be exiting the parade route at Ninth and Normal so that they can go to the high school, where initial competitions will be held. Auxiliary competition gets under way at 10 a.m. while drumline competition begins at 1:20 p.m. There is no admission charge to the events being held at the high school.
The field competition will be held at the C.F. Russell Stadium, with the first band performance to get under way at 12:15 p.m. Awards will be presented at around 6:45 p.m.
There is a charge to attend the field competition, which includes $5 for adults and $3 for children ages sixth grade and older. Children below the sixth grade will be admitted free. Gates will open at 11 a.m.
The Trenton Marching Band and Auxiliary will perform in exhibition during the field show competition at 1:45 p.m. The auxiliary unit will perform in exhibition at the high school at 11:20 a.m. while the drumline will perform in exhibition at 3:28 p.m., also at the high school.
Bands scheduled to march in the parade include Trenton, Stet, DeKalb, Norborne, Leeton, Lathrop, South Harrison, Putnam County, Gallatin, Princeton, Concordia, Maysville, Carrollton, Lawson, Macon, Marshall, Savannah, Smithville, Harrisonville, Kearney, Oak Grove, Chillicothe, Seckman of St. Louis and Liberty.
