Lee Allen Robinson, an 88-year-old resident of Mercer, died on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Robert Markum will officiated. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment of the cremains will be in the Wilder Cemetery, northeast of Mercer, at a later date.
An open visitation is under way at the funeral home, where a family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Friday, Oct. 13, 2006).
Mr. Robinson was born on April 18, 1918 near Cleopatra in Mercer County, the son of Ted and Jewel Edith Horn Robinson. He was raised in the Cleopatra community, attended the Laughlin School near his home and was a 1937 graduate of Ravanna High School. After his education, he worked at various jobs near his home and in North Dakota. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Feb. 19, 1942 and served three years and 11 months during World War II. During his service, he was in the Aleutian Islands for two and one-half years, then was sent to Europe for a short time.
He was married on May 24 1946 to Mary Ruth Burlingame, who survives of the home. They farmed for many years east of Mercer and retired from farming in 1985, moving to their present home in Mercer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Allen Robinson and his wife, Betty, of Torrington, WY; a daughter Ruth Robinson of Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Tammy Hall and her husband, Mike, of Keizer, OR and Ted Robinson and his wife, Michelle, of Alliance, NE; four great-grandchildren, Teri Lea and Cody Robinson and Alex and Tomi Hall; one brother, Lynn Robinson and his wife, Hazel, of Princeton; one sister, Betty Hickman of Kansas City; and other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loree Grant.
