Judge Steven D. Hudson
Carol I. Smart, 39, Spickard, pleaded guilty to failing to register a vehicle annually with the Director of Revenue and was fined $27.50 and $56.50 costs.
Jason K. Thogmartin, 31, 308 E. Eighth St., pleaded guilty to speeding and was fined $32.50 and $56.50 costs.
Joseph R. Miller, 18, 829 McPherson St., pleaded guilty to operating an all-terrain vehicle without a proper safety flag and was fined $20.50 and $56.50 costs.
John R. Christian, 45, Polk, pleaded guilty to speeding and was fined $42.50 and $56.50 costs.
Charity A. Oshel, 28, Jamesport, pleaded guilty to not wearing a seat belt and was fined $10.
Randall D. Howe, 46, Spickard, pleaded guilty, pursuant to a plea agreement, to possession of a controlled substance (35 grams or less of marijuana) and was fined $300 and $114.50 costs. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed.
Faron W. Lawrence, 40, Spickard, pleaded guilty, pursuant to a plea agreement, to an amended charge of having no valid operator’s license (the original charge was operating a motor vehicle on the highway without a valid license) and was sentenced to serve 48 hours in the Grundy County Jail. He is to pay $104.50 costs and $10 to the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund. Lawrence also pleaded guilty, pursuant to a plea agreement, to another amended charge of having no valid operator’s license (the original charge was operating a motor vehicle on the highway while his license was revoked for points) and was sentenced to serve two days in the Grundy County Jail. He is to pay $104.50 costs and $10 to the CVCF. He is also to pay room and board while he is incarcerated.
John R. Smiley, 24, Galt, pleaded guilty, pursuant to a plea agreement, to driving while intoxicated (prior offender) and was sentenced to serve 120 days in the Grundy County Jail. Execution of the sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years and was ordered to serve five days shock time. He is also to pay $188.50 costs and complete the SATOP program. Charges of failing to drive on the right half of the roadway and operating a motor vehicle on the highway while his license was suspended were dismissed. He is also to pay room and board while he is incarcerated.
Henry Ramirez, 18, Spickard, waived his preliminary hearing and had his case bound over to Division I on charges of failing to display valid plates on a motor vehicle and two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, deliver or sell. Trial-setting was scheduled for Nov. 9.
Bonnie V. Steinman, 47, Princeton, pleaded guilty to failing to maintain financial responsibility for a vehicle and was fined $27.50 and $56.50 costs.
Alice R. Bosley, 45, 750 W. 18th St., pleaded guilty to speeding and was fined $42.50 and $56.50 costs.
Anthony C. Carder, 30, Humphreys, appeared in court and did not have the balance of $414.50 due on a conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia. His fine was converted to jail time at $10 per day and he was remanded to the Grundy County Jail to serve 41 days.
Joshua D. Phillips, 25, 2000 Chestnut St., pleaded guilty to not wearing a seat belt and was fined $10.
Rachel E. Thompson, 921 Laclede St., had a charge of passing bad checks dismissed.
Small Claims
Hy-Vee Food Store vs. Diana King. The case, which involved pharmacy charges, was dismissed.
Associate Civil
Marilyn Cooksey vs. Trenton Village Apartments, LP. The court found in favor of the defendant on the plaintiff’s petition and in favor of the plaintiff on the defendant’s counter-claim of breach of contract. Costs were taxed to the plaintiff. The case involved a rental dispute.
Midwest Emergency Services vs. Nina S. Moulin. The case, which involved a suit on account, was dismissed.
Municipal Division

George E. Ellis Jr., 21, 1902 Cedar St., pleaded guilty to having no valid driver’s license when required and was fined $75.50 and $32.50 costs.
