The soldiers are serving as an advance party for a larger group leaving in November. They will depart for Ft. Dix, NJ to receive training and prepare for the remainder of the soldiers deploying. Approximately 150 soldiers have been selected for the mission, representing the 129th Field Artillery and the 1128th Forward Support Company units at Trenton, Chillicothe, Maryville, Albany, Independence, Marshall and Richmond.
In mid-November, the main body will join the advance party in Ft. Dix to receive the required training for security operations, with an expected destination in Afghanistan. Additional departure ceremonies have been tentatively scheduled for Nov. 11 and 12 at Chillicothe, Albany, Richmond and Independence.
