The Lady Bulldogs could not overcome a pair of errors in the fourth inning that led to four runs as THS lost to Hamilton, 4-0.
“We played six strong innings against a good team,” Head Coach Lyle Best said. “Aubrey Utley pitched very well.”
Playing their final home game were Tiffany Brewer, Tasha Porter, Trisha Ireland, Brittany Lynch and Taby Winters.
Trenton and Hamilton were tied 0-0 heading into the top of the third inning. With a runner on first and no outs, Trenton committed its first error of the inning. The error allowed Hamilton to get runners at second and third with no outs. Trenton’s second error came when a throw home got away from the catcher, allowing two runs to score.
With two runners on and two outs, Hamilton hit a two-run double that pushed the lead to 4-0.
“The girls are giving a good effort and they are still showing signs of improvement,” Best said. “Those four runs were just too much for us.”
Aimee Gutshall went three-for-three with two singles and a double. JaNea Whitney walked and Winters had a stolen base.
Utley allowed four unearned runs on four hits while striking out six batters and walking two.
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 4-13 on the season and close out the regular season on Monday at Chillicothe.
The junior varsity lost to Hamilton, 7-6.
