Anna A. Elder, a 100-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died on Thursday evening, Sept. 28, 2006 at the nursing home. She was a former Gilman City resident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. Rev. Jerry Henderson officiated. Burial will be in the Gilman City Masonic Cemetery at Gilman City.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Elder was born on Jan. 25, 1906 at Brimson, the daughter of William Arnold and Mary Elizabeth Allen McAtee. She attended Brimson schools. She was a resident of Gilman City most of her life. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Gilman City.
She was married at Trenton on April 5, 1924 to Johnie Elder, who preceded her in death on April 6, 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva Henderson and her husband, Jerry, of Trenton, and Avis Marshall of Columbia; two sons, Charles Elder and his wife, Faye, of Trenton, and Harry Elder and his wife, Maxine, of Des Moines, IA; two brothers, Kenneth McAtee and his wife, Doris, of Marshalltown, IA, and William McAtee of Lake Oswego, OR; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Amanda Johnson and Opal McAtee; seven brothers, Casperß McAtee, Pascal McAtee, Willard McAtee, Hubert McAtee, Merle McAtee, Leonard McAtee and Arthur McAtee; and two granddaughters, Jean and Pamela Henderson.
