Some of the most recent improvements have been in the Emergency Department. Responding to patient feedback, Wright Memorial Hospital has updated its treatment rooms. This year there has been a focus on updating equipment and documentation, including a new X-ray archival system and new portable ventilators coming soon.
Recently the hospital also included improvements focused on making patients more comfortable. With the help of a local contractor, new cabinets were installed and rooms received new wallpaper or paint for a comforting look. Other changes the department is undergoing include new training for nurses.
Working with Saint Luke’s Health System procedures and standards, nurses will be trained to treat sexual and domestic assault victims and collect evidence for prosecution. Hospital staff are collaborating with patient advocates from the women’s shelter and law enforcement in the process. Wright Memorial Hospital is committed to making the hospital meet the needs of patients. The Wright Memorial Hospital Emergency Department has four beds and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Helicopter and ground ambulance services are available should patient transfer to a major medical center be required.
