Mr. Rockhold was born April 3, 1922 at the home of his parents, Charles H. and Cora Mae Alexander Rockhold, in Wayne County, IA.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Gladys Clay on Jan. 30, 1942. She preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1993.
Mr. Rockhold was a 1939 graduate of Lineville High School. He was a past school board member in Lineville, a former member of the Evergreen Cemetery board and a member of the Lineville United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
Mr. Rockhold loved raising his Black Angus cattle on his farm and during his farming career, he received an award from the Soil Conservation Board for his soil conservation practices. For years, his 400-acre farm had the most feet of terraces in Wayne County. He was very content to spend his life on the farm he loved. He also loved the annual deer hunt that involved a large number of hunters, both family and friends. His wife, Wilma, always had a pot of chili ready to feed them. He continued to hunt until his health started to fail.
Mr. Rockhold is survived by four children, Charles Rockhold and his wife, Barb of Lineville, Barb Street and her husband, Jerry of Corydon, IA, Cliff Rockhold and his wife, Peggy of Neosho, and Teri Caldwell and her husband, Stan of Carlisle, IA; three sisters-in-law, Joan Clay, Mary Rockhold and Helen Rockhold; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Evelyn Marie Rockhold; and by three brothers, Ivan, Merle and Kenny Rockhold.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to either the Wayne County Home Health Care Agency or to the Evergreen Cemetery. These may be mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
