Lawrence Saale, an 89-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 at Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery at Chillicothe.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Sept. 25, 2006) at the funeral home. General visitation is under way and will continue until 9 o’clock tonight and from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Mr. Saale was born on Feb. 13, 1917 in Clay County, the son of Lawrence B. and Vera Smith Saale. He was married on March 18, 1937 at Carrollton to Frances Helen Garber, who survives of the home.
Mr. Saale was a farmer and lived all of his life in Livingston County. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in rural Chillicothe, where he was a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the Jackson Township Board and was active with the Livingston County ASCS.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Pete Saale and his wife, Bonnie of Brookfield, Joe Saale and his wife, Kay, of Chillicothe, John Saale and his wife, Darlene, of Gower, Jim Saale and his wife, Kay, of Chillicothe, and David Saale and his wife, Lieschen, of Oklahoma City, OK; six daughters, Betty Jones and her husband, Herman, of Lexington, Donna Terry and her husband, Patrick, of Warsaw, IN, Rose Douglass and her husband, Steve, of Chillicothe, Wanda Hesler and her husband, John, of Chillicothe, Doris Saale of Brookfield and Vicki Smith and her husband, David, of Kearney; three sisters, Alice Conroy and her husband, Bill of Maryland Heights, Shirley Bierman and her husband, Fred of Springfield, and Norma Nowack of St. Charles; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Saale; two sisters, Helen Saale and Ruth LaRue; and infant brother, Donald; and four infant grandchildren.
