Wyant Is First-Week Winner
Logan Wyant of Trenton is the first local winner of the Power Points football competition, sponsored by the Trenton Republican-Times and area businesses.
Wyant scored 117 points to win the local contest and will receive a $30 cash prize. The overall winner of $1,000 was Sierra Deane of Chillicothe, who scored 133 of 136 possible points.
This week’s entries are due by 1 p.m. on Thursday and may be left at Hy-Vee, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, Barnes-Baker, Easter’s or the Republican-Times office.
TMS Volleyball Team Falls
The Trenton Middle School volleyball team opened its season Tuesday, falling to Plattsburg in both the A-team and B-team contests.
In the A-team match, Trenton fell 15-25, 25-19 and 14-25. Kasey Roderick had five aces. In the B-team match, Trenton fell, 17-25 and 23-25. Kayla Baker had three aces for the TMS squad.
The Lady Bullpups will next see action on Tuesday, Sept. 19, hosting Braymer.
Golf Team At Gallatin
The Trenton High School girls golf team finished seventh in the 10-team Gallatin Golf Tournament on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs shot a 478 to finish 71 strokes behind first-place Gallatin, which shot a 407. Finishing second was Cameron at 427 while Worth County was third with a 440. Aaron Smith shot a 110 to lead Trenton, followed by Katherine Hoffman with a 112, Kiley Slater with a 127 and Emily Schmidt with a 129. The medalist was Megan Chaney of Cameron with an 88.
“Aaron and Katherine both played well,” Coach Ann Constant said. “Kiley struggled on a few holes, but she’s working on getting things back together. Emily was consistent and didn’t shoot too many strokes above her average.”
The golf team will have its last home meet on Tuesday, Sept. 19, hosting Putnam County and Richmond.
